oscar. Tiger oscar. Velvet or marble chichlid. Whatever you call them, astronotus ocellatus are fascinating fish.
like many who decide to get oscars, i thought they seemed cool. I'd kept an aquarium before. I still had the tank. So i figured setting up a couple oscars should be a breeze.
turns out, i did just about everything wrong. As soon as i brought molly and max home from the pet store, their fighting began. I had to buy a separate tank so they didn't kill each other.
then max hated his new home. He actually spit some of the tank decorations out of the tank and onto the floor
i couldn't believe how much trouble my new pets gave me that first day. Shane's ebook oscar fish secrets is a must have for the oscar enthusiast beware though, the oscar is definitely the pit bull terrier of the fish world.we had to divide the tank to stop him eating all the smaller fish.
